Tarsus Valorum was a male politician who served as the last known Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic prior to the position’s disbanding around 1,000 BBY. At the end of the Republic’s war against an evil empire, Chancellor Valorum instituted the Ruusan Reformation within the government. These reforms transitioned the Galactic Republic Military into a peacekeeping force, and the Jedi Order disbanded its military as well.[1]
One of the more higher-level reforms was the de-centralization of the Republic’s government. This included the elimination of the Supreme Chancellor role, replacing it with the less-powerful President of the Republic. After these reforms were implemented, Valorum because the first President of the Republic.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
The character of Tarsus Valorum was originally introduced in the canon book The New Essential Guide to Characters, by Daniel Wallace. He was given a more fleshed out appearance in Darth Bane: Rule of Two by Drew Karpyshyn, in which he institutes the Ruusan Reformations. The character was later adopted by Brandon Rhea for the Alternative Star Wars Saga, having been mentioned in the backstory of Star Wars: Episode I - The Chosen One.[1]
