Tarpals was a Gungan Captain in the Gungan Empire during the Invasion of Utapau. Originally a mercenary, Tarpals was hired by Gungan High Councilor Rugor Nass to do his supposed dirty work. Tarpals helped to exile Prince Jar Binks from the Gungan city of Otoh Gunga. Binks also believed that Tarpals helped to set up the Human theft of the Gungan's Kaiburr crystal, an act that led to Binks's banishment as Binks was the one guarding the crystal at the time.[1]
Two years later, during the initial Trade Federation invasion of Utapau, Binks returned to Otoh Gunga with Jedi Master Jard Dooku and Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi. Tarpals confronted Binks, an act which resulted in a brawl between the two. Binks initially bested Tarpals, but Tarpals escaped from the exiled prince's grip and arrested him and the two Jedi before bringing them before the Gungan High Council.[1]
