Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, often abbreviated KOTOR, is a single-player role-playing video game developed by BioWare and published by LucasArts. KOTOR chronicled the final days of the Jedi Civil War following the redemption of the former Dark Lord of the Sith Revan and the quest he and his followers undertook to locate the Star Forge and defeat it and the Second Sith Empire, both controlled by Revan's former Sith apprentice Darth Malak. The game ends with the climactic Battle of Rakata Prime and a showdown between the former master and apprentice.

KOTOR is a canon Star Wars story, but it is also considered canon in the Alternative Star Wars Saga by the Alternative Saga authors. This does not imply or suggest a relationship with, endorsement of, or awareness of the Alternative Saga by the author and publisher of the Alternative Star Wars Saga. The Alternative Star Wars Saga has no relationship with The Walt Disney Company, Lucasfilm Ltd., its subsidiaries, or the makers of any other Star Wars products.
