Rise of the Empire era[1]

"You did well, Ki-Adi, but you’re too overconfident. You can’t always take shortcuts."
Jedi Master Mace Windy following a sparring match with Ki-Adi Mundi[src]

Ki-Adi Mundi was a Cerean Jedi Knight and Jedi High Council member during the Invasion of Utapau. Born on Cerea decades prior to the Invasion of Utapau, Mundi was taken into the Jedi Order at the age of four, later than most apprentices who were taken in during their infancy, and matured into a widely respected Jedi Knight under the guidance of Jedi Grandmaster Yoda. In the years that followed, Mundi was appointed Jedi watchman of his home planet. The task led him to being too busy to take on an apprentice, even when he was in his fifties.[1]

Despite his rank, Mundi was appointed to the Jedi High Council, an unprecedented move as all members of the Council had historically been Jedi Masters. Mundi became friends with fellow Council member and Jedi Master Mace Windy, and the two sparred in practice lightsaber duels every two weeks in matches that Windy always won. The two also traveled together, along with Yoda, on a mission to Ansion in 22 BBY.[1]
