Jedi Knights were members of the Jedi Order. They were a rank above Jedi Padawans, but they were still outranked by Jedi Masters and Jedi High Council members. Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice during the time of the Galactic Republic, keeping that mandate until the rise of the Galactic Empire and fall of the Jedi Order after the Clone Wars.[1]
Before becoming a Jedi Knight, Jedi would be part of multi-year apprenticeships as Padawans with a Jedi Knight or Master. Knights would often be sent on missions throughout the galaxy;[1] Jedi Knights Ussej Padric Bac and Damien Nightblade were assigned to investigate the re-emergence of the Sith at the onset of the Great Territorial War.[2] Thousands of years later, Obi-Wan Kenobi traveled with his former master, Jard Dooku, as a Jedi ambassador in an effort to end the Trade Federation's blockade of Utapau.[1]
