Jard Dooku was a Jedi Master during the final days of the Galactic Republic. Dooku hailed from Serenno, where he was born as the planet’s count in 92 BBY. Sometime prior to 42 BBY, Dooku took Xanatos as his Jedi Padawan, though Xanatos later turned to the dark side and tried to kill him. Although initially resistant to taking on another apprentice, Dooku became the master of Obi-Wan Kenobi after Kenobi helped save his life from Xanatos.[1]
Despite their initial respect for one another, Dooku had a tense relationship with Obi-Wan, and the two never formed a friendship; Obi-Wan instead confided in Dooku’s friend and fellow Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn. Nonetheless, Dooku successfully trained Obi-Wan to become a Jedi Knight. They later worked together in 22 BBY, when they were sent as Jedi ambassadors in an attempt to resolve the Trade Federation blockade of Utapau. The Federation invaded the planet, and Dooku and Kenobi helped Arcadia escape the planet. The ship landed on Tatooine for repairs, where they met Annikin Skywalker and learned that the Ophuchi Clan believed Skywalker was the Chosen One. Dooku was vocally resistant to the validity of the prophecy, believing that the Sith had been destroyed a thousand years earlier.[1]
