"Freedon Nadd was a Dark Jedi. The stories say he was far worse than Revan and Malak ever were."
Xarga[src]

Freedon Nadd was a Dark Lord of the Sith in the centuries prior to the Great Sith Wars. Once a Padawan in the Jedi Order, Nadd fell to the dark side of the Force after being denied the rank of Jedi Knight. He was trained by Naga Sadow on Yavin IV before killing Sadow and making his way to Onderon, where Nadd ruled as a tyrant.

Biography[]

From Jedi to Sith[]

Freedon Nadd was taken into the Jedi Order in the centuries following the Great Hyperspace War. He was trained on Ossus and became a skilled Padawan. His temperament, however, led to him being denied promotion to Jedi Knight. Furious, Nadd killed his master and fled the Jedi, choosing to study the dark side of the Force. A great deal of what he learned came from a Sith holocron, but his desire to find more power led him to travel into the galaxy to discover additional teachings.[1]

Nadd’s travels led him to Yavin IV, where he came into contact with the Massassi. These beings had once served the ancient Sith Lord Naga Sadow, and Nadd bested them as he made his way through their civilization. Recognizing his power, the Massassi brought Nadd to Sadow. The Sith Lord, who had been living in suspended animation, had been waiting for an apprentice who was worthy of his teachings, and he decided that Nadd was that apprentice. After learning what he could from Sadow, Nadd killed his master and left Yavin IV.[1]
