Alternative Star Wars Saga

The Dune Sea was a large desert on the planet Tatooine. It housed a Star Map built by the Infinite Empire. It was also the headquarters of the Ophuchi Clan, who built their sanctuary deep in the desert.

History[]

Jedi Bendu

Sometime during the reign of the Infinite Empire, the Rakatan people built a superweapon called the Star Forge, a hidden weapons factory powered by a star. The Rakatans built a number of Star Maps that indicated the exact location of the Star Forge, and one of the Star Maps was placed on Tatooine in the eastern area of the Dune Sea. The Star Map was housed within a temple constructed in the Dune Sea.[1]

Thousands of years later, in 12,978 BBY, a desert hermit named Elias formed a group called the Ophuchi Clan, made up of descendants of the Order of the Jedi Bendu. The Ophuchi constructed a sanctuary in the Dune Sea, many kilometers away from Anchorhead Station, believing that it was their destiny and duty to watch over and protect the desert wastes. Despite the harsh conditions of the desert, the Ophuchi were able to survive for many thousands of years.[2]

Before the outbreak of the Jedi Civil War, the Dark Lord of the Sith Revan and his apprentice, Darth Malak, set out to discover the Star Forge. To do so, they first had to find the various Star Maps that were scattered throughout the galaxy. They located the star temple on Tatooine and used it to help locate the Star Forge. In 3,956 BBY, a redeemed and amnesic Revan and a number of his companions set out to eliminate the Star Forge. They too discovered the ruins in the Dune Sea, which, by that time, had become home to a krayt dragon that was preventing access to the Star Map; it was speculated that the creature was being influenced by the dark side of the Force. Revan, along with Komad Fortuna, were able to kill the krayt dragon, allowing Revan to access the Star Map. He and his companions were ultimately able to destroy the Star Forge.[1]
