The Bogan, which was the term for the dark side of the Force in the ancient teachings of the Dark Jedi Xendor, was the leader of the Dark Jedi of the Bogan, a Dark Jedi sect during the Hutt War of 12,979 BBY. The Bogan was considered the most powerful of all Dark Jedi, and therefore was seen as their rightful leader. The Dark Jedi believed that the Bogan was the embodiment of what it meant to embrace the dark side of the Force.[1]
To help lead the Dark Jedi, the Bogan would choose a High Lord to be his or her right hand and closest adviser. The High Lord served as the apprentice to the Bogan, and was seen as someone who would potentially become the Bogan when strong enough to overthrow his or her master.[1]
