The year 5,000 before the Battle of Yavin (BBY) was a period of time in the early history of the conflicts between the Jedi Order and the Sith. Around this time, the Dark Lord of the Sith Marka Ragnos died and Naga Sadow succeeded him, at which point the Great Hyperspace War between the First Sith Empire and Galactic Republic began.[3] After the defeat of the First Sith Empire, Lord Vitiate brought the shattered Sith forces back together and formed the True Sith Empire.[4]
