The year 2 before the Battle of Yavin (BBY) was a span of time during the Galactic Civil War. After presenting fabricated evidence suggesting that Alderaan was stockpiling weapons to be used against the Galactic Empire in violation of a treaty signed years earlier, Darth Vader commanded an Imperial fleet in an attack on Alderaan. The attack was aimed at capturing Alderaanian Viceroy Bail Prestor Organa and, ultimately, Princess Leia Organa.[1]
