The year 24,992 before the Battle of Yavin (BBY) was a period of time in the early history of the Galactic Republic. Jonathan Bac, the Republic's first Supreme Chancellor, was prevented from running for re-election as Supreme Chancellor by the Galactic Constitution, as he had already served two terms. This allowed Atavus Zaren, one of Bac's political rivals, to become the Republic's second Chancellor.[1]
